Ecological engineering and nature based solutions

Ecological engineering is a branch of applied sciences that try to merge ecology and engineering in order to create a synergistic relationship between human society and environment.

During the workshop its origin, key concepts, definition and applications will be discussed along with its design principles.
According to that, a comparison with permaculture design approach will be discussed as well as their linking points.

At the end, the concept of Nature Based Solutions and its state of art worldwide will be presented followed by a case study concerning their application in a neighborhood of the city of Milan in Italy.
